Cyprus assuming the Presidency of the Council of the European Union marked a historic milestone for the country, a moment of national significance that carried both visibility and responsibility on the European stage. This was far more than a communication campaign. It was an opportunity to shape how Cyprus presents itself to Europe and how Europe is brought closer to the people of Cyprus.
The challenge was to deliver this message with the weight, credibility and relevance it deserved. On one hand, the campaign needed to celebrate 20 years of Cyprus’ EU membership and communicate the tangible impact of the European Union on citizens’ everyday lives. On the other, it needed to highlight Cyprus’ strategic priorities and role during the Presidency in a way that felt clear, accessible and engaging.
At the heart of the challenge was perception. For many people, Europe can often feel distant, institutional and difficult to relate to. Formal language and complex political discourse create detachment rather than connection. Our responsibility was to transform that narrative, creating communication that humanised Europe, made its relevance tangible, and inspired a sense of participation, awareness and national pride across a broad audience.
We started from a simple but powerful insight: Europe becomes meaningful when people can see themselves in it.
Our approach was to reframe the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union from a political milestone into a shared national moment. Instead of focusing solely on institutions and policy, we built a narrative centred around people, progress and participation, one that made Europe feel closer, more human and directly connected to everyday life in Cyprus.
A key part of the challenge was balancing the communication of important institutional messages with the real impact those messages have on the everyday lives of people in Cyprus. The campaign needed to maintain the credibility and significance of the Presidency, while ensuring the communication remained accessible, relatable and emotionally engaging for a broad public audience.
To achieve this, we translated complexity into clarity. We developed a bold and cohesive visual identity that gave the Presidency a modern, confident and approachable presence across every touchpoint. Messaging was carefully simplified and strategically structured, ensuring information remained substantial without ever feeling inaccessible.
Across ATL, digital and content platforms, the campaign operated as one unified communication ecosystem. Every element worked together to reinforce the same core idea: bringing Europe closer to citizens, making its impact visible in everyday life, and positioning Cyprus as an active, credible and forward-looking voice within the European Union.
